Moving Science
“You can be creative in anything - in math, science, engineering, philosophy - as much as you can in music or in painting or in dance."
~ SIR KEN ROBINSON
DANCE & STEM
Why
Dance and movement can help students learn new important information through kinaesthetic learning. We combine that with repetition, sound and visual learning before children write anything down.
What is Moving Science?
Moving Science is a series of workshops and projects that celebrate cross-curricular learning by weaving dance into STEM subjects.
Our primary workshops focus on learning new vocabulary through movement, games, and lots of fun. Our secondary projects develop deep knowledge understanding by encouraging students to research a STEM topic and develop this into a performance.
Whether you are a teacher, event organiser, youth group leader, researcher or parent we will be happy to talk through your needs. We can write a new workshop if necessary and advise on CREST awards if appropriate.
All FLUX workshops are available as part of full and half-day Workshops. Hour-long STEM Clubs, taster sessions at public engagement events and 6-week projects. Get Moving Science!
"THE Arts are a vital part of the mix. Let’s break down these artificial barriers and place arts with science, technology and maths, at the heart of the education system."
-~The Creative Industries Federation’s, 2017
Let’s turn STEM into STEAM

Really lovely atmosphere. The leaders were well informed and managed the group well. Thanks!
Miss Walker
It's a fantastic way of learning and makes students think differently about the subject.

Nationally Recognised and Supported
FLUX: Moving Science workshops are at the forefront of creative STEM learning. Our founder has spoken on behalf of the British Science Association about the important role the arts have informal education. We have featured at Big Bang Events, Cheltenham Science Festival, YFYA, Technopop and have been commissioned by the IET to develop 'Moving Engineering'.

Bringing the Curriculum to Life
If your school or organisation is looking for a new way to engage students in STEM then our Moving Science Workshops offer an innovative, creative and fun way to stimulate interest in STEM subjects.
We offer a range of specially designed workshops, including those that are tailor-made to your organisation, topic or curriculum requirements.
Designed to suit your class
We offer Full Day/ Half Day workshops, tailored to your timetable and schools individual requirements. We also offer 1 hour STEM clubs, which can fit into a lunchtime or after school activity.
The workshop can also be used for Enrichment Days, Curriculum Days, Off Timetable Days, Outreach Days, STEM Festivals and in many Primary Schools used to support KS1 & 2 topics.
Taking a sample of 200 Civil Engineering scholarship applicants in 2014. 36.5% studied a creative or design subject to AS/A-Level. 67% combining arts and STEM at GCSE.
This suggests that our most gifted engineering students have successfully combined STEM with the arts.
AND YET from 2012–13 only 8.4% of students combined arts and science disciplines at AS level.
